In order to be able to offer you products via the iKiosk, we naturally need some information about you. You will see below what kind of information this is and what we intend to do with it:

  1. Data Controller and general information

    Your data will be collected, processed and used by Axel Springer SE (Service: iKiosk: https://www.ikiosk.de/impressum.html)(Provider within the meaning of the Telemedia Act (TMG) and Data Controller within the meaning of the Data Protection Act (BDSG)).

    It is this company we refer to when using terms such as "we" or "us". For the purposes of this document, "iKiosk" shall mean the website www.ikiosk.de and the iKiosk app, both including all available subpages, content and functions (e.g. internet forums). Parts of iKiosk will hereinafter be referred to as "Online Services". In as far as we use the term website, this only refers to www.ikiosk.de and the offers provided there; when we use the term app, this only refers to our app and its contents.

  2. Collection and processing of personal data

    You can usually use the Online Services for which payment or registration is not required without having to submit personal data. For technical reasons, in particular own security reasons, our servers will temporarily store your IP address. Otherwise, personal data will only be stored in connection with the use of iKiosk if you submit such information voluntarily, e.g. during registration, an inquiry to us, an application or when you order a subscription.

    Please also note the following information on the further use of your data pursuant to the BDSG, on cookies, on web analysis services and on the use of social networks.

  3. Use of your data for the processing of the contract and for advertising pursuant to the Data Protection Act (BDSG)

    We will use the email address submitted by you during registration or the implementation of the contract in order to inform you by email of similar products or services as well as existing subscriptions or in general of subscriptions and individual editions of newspapers and magazines as well as various other products.

    Furthermore, we will use your email address in order to send you our general newsletter, provided that you have granted your expressed prior consent.

    You can object to the use of your email address for such purposes at any time, in writing or in text form to service@ikiosk.de, with effect for the future, without this leading to costs going beyond the transmission costs under the basic rates.

  4. Cookies and similar technologies

    Cookies are small files which your browser stores on your device, in a directory intended for this purpose. They make it possible to find out whether you have visited a website before. If you consent, Cookies can also be stored in the login data for an Online Service, so that you will not need to re-enter these login data each time you access the site.

    When apps are used, a technology with similar functions is used instead of cookies.

    Advertisements are usually made available by third party providers. If your device settings allow this, these providers may use information on your visits in order to be able to place adverts on products and services you may be interested in. Under no circumstances will specific contact data such as your name, your address, email address or telephone number be transmitted in this context.

    So-called web analysis services may also use cookies and similar technologies, provided that your device settings allow this. For further information on web analysis services, please see the corresponding clause 8 at the end of this Data Privacy Policy. You can adjust your browser settings so that cookies will not be stored or that an expressed consent is required prior to the storage of a cookie. You can also delete cookies at any time. Please note that the use of our Online Services may be restricted if you disable cookies.

  5. Information on the use of apps

    As you know, apps are usually offered for download on third-party sites (such as iTunes, Google Play, etc.). If, according to the applicable usage terms of such third-party provider, Axel Springer SE is your contracting partner for the purchase of a title within the app, we shall process the data we receive from the third-party provider to the extent required to fulfil the contract, in order to allow you to consume the title on your mobile device and, if applicable, download it.

  6. Forwarding of your data to third parties

    We will only transmit your personal data to third parties if a) such transmission is necessary in order for us to be able to fulfil our contractual obligations to you, and if this is discernibly done by, or jointly with, another provider, b) we are otherwise entitled or obligated by law to forward them, or c) you have granted your consent.

    In some cases, for instance during the processing of payments via external service providers (e.g. B+S Card Service for credit card payments) assigned by us to process data for us subject to our instructions, payment data will be collected directly by such service providers. Such service providers are obligated by us in writing in accordance with the strict requirements of the BDSG, and are not permitted to further use your data for other purposes.

  7. Social plug-ins

    We also have incorporated so-called social plug-ins into iKiosk. These are features of the relevant social network via which you can, for instance, share the content of our Online Services with your friends in the social networks, or can recommend such content to your friends.

    1. Share function on smartphones and tablets

      On smartphones and tablets, the above services are often not implemented via plug-ins but via a "Share" feature installed on the device. Accordingly, the settings of such devices may also submit information to other social media service providers. For details, please see the device information.

  8. Analysis services
    1. Google Analytics

      The iKiosk websites/apps use Google Analytics, a web analysis services offered by Google Inc.,Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA ("Google"). Google Analytics uses so-called "cookies" (see clause 4 above) which allow an analysis of your use of the websites/apps.

      The information generated by the cookie regarding your use of the website/app is normally transferred to a Google server in the USA, and is stored there. If IP anonymising is activated on the website/app, your IP address will, within Member States of the European Union or other contracting States of the Agreement on the European Economic Area, first be abbreviated by Google and thus anonymised. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transferred to a Google server in the USA, and will be abbreviated there. Google will use this information in order to analyse your usage of the website/app, to compile reports on website/app activities, and to provide further services to the website/app operator relating to the usage of the website/app and the internet. Google will not combine the IP address transferred by your browser within the framework of Google Analytics with other data. You can prevent the storage of cookies by setting your browser software accordingly; however, in this case, you may not be able to fully use all features on this website/app. Furthermore, you can prevent collection by Google of the data generated by the cookie and relating to your use of the website (including your IP address), as well as processing of these data by Google, by downloading and installing the deactivation add-on provided under the following link: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en.

    2. Google Conversion Tracking

      As an advertising client of Google AdWords, iKiosk uses its Conversion Tracking offered by Google Inc. (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA; „Google“). Through this, Google adds a cookie whenever a customer reaches the websites/apps via a Google advertisement. These cookies lose their validity after 30 days and cannot be used for personal identification.

      If you visit certain websites/apps and the cookie has not lost its validity yet, Google and we are able to acknowledge that a user has clicked on an ad and was forwarded to our site. Every adwords customer receives a different cookie. Therefor cookies cannot be tracked across the websites/apps of adwords customers. The information gathered with help of those cookies, help adwords customers to create statistics for adwords customers who have decided to use conversion tracking. The adwords customers find out about how many users clicked their ad in total and have been forwarded to a site that had been equipped with a conversion-tracking tag. But they don’t receive information with which a user could be identified personally. If you don’t want to participate in this tracking process you can refuse to allow a cookie to be set – for example deactivate the automatic approval in the settings of your browser. You can also deactivate conversion tracking by setting your browser to block all cookies from the domain googleadservices.com.

      If you visit our site, using a mobile device (smartphone or tablet for example) you can opt out the usage of Google Analytics in the future by clicking this link. By activating this link, we set a cookie in your browser which signals to stop using Google Analytics on your device. Please notice, that you have to do this again in case you meanwhile deleted all cookies in your browser.

    3. Google Remarketing

      We use Google Inc.’s remarketing technology (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA; „Google“). With this technology, users who have already visited our site, will be approached on other sites, which are included in the Google Partner network again, and being offered relevant and targeted ads. The appearance of advertisement is triggered by cookies, which are tiny text snippets that are stored on a users’ device. With these cookies, the user behaviour can be analysed and later on be used for targeted product placement and advertisement based on interests.

      By using our site and products you agree to the processing of your data by Google in the here described manner. We point out that Google has its own data privacy policy, which are independent from ours. We do not take any responsibility or liability for these policies and processes.     4. Webtrekk

      On iKiosk we use the statistics programme "Webtrekk" offered by Webtrekk GmbH, Hannoversche Strasse 19, 10115 Berlin, Germany. Here, anonymous measurement values on the use of our Online Services are transmitted to us by your browser in order to improve quality and to allow a more user-friendly design. A detailed list of the information transmitted in this manner is available here: http://www.webtrekk.com/en/index/opt-out-webtrekk/. Such analyses are only carried out for the duration of the relevant online visit. Cookies (see clause 4 above) are also used in the context of Webtrekk.     5. Tealium

      We use „Tealium Audience Stream“ on our site, a service provided by Tealium Inc., 11085 Torreyana Road, San Diego, CA 92121, USA (Tealium). Data is collected and saved with which - under the use of pseudonyms – user profiles are created. On behalf of the operator of this website/app, Tealium will use this information to shape your usage oft he website/app automatically, instantly and fitting your needs. For example, data is collected for: seen and clicked ads, articles, advertisement, visitor numbers, site’s topic etc. The pseudonymized user profiles will not be connected with personal data about the person behind the pseudonym without an especially given consent.

      To create user profiles, cookies or for mobile devices similar technologies will be used. The information concerning your usage of the website/app gathered by the cookie will only be saved in Germany. You can disable the recording of cookies via the according setting in your browser; but we point out that you might not be able to use all of the website’s/apps’s functions fully. You can contradict future data collection and recording for the purpose of web analytics at any time by using the manual to opt out here:

    6. Tealium iQ (Tag Management System)

      This website/app uses a tag management system (TMS), a service provided by Tealium Inc., 11085 Torreyana Road, San Diego, CA 92121, USA (Tealium), to configure parts of the website/app dynamically. To make this functionality possible, a cookie named utag_main is created. The TMS is necessary to provide this service and can therefor not be deactivated.

    7. Facebook Tracking

      With your consent we use the „tracking pixel“ of Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA (“Facebook”) on our website/app. With the help of this pixel the user’s behaviour can be tracked after he has been sent to our website/app through a Facebook ad. This is how we can measure the effectiveness of Facebook ads for statistical and market research purposes. The data we collect this way is anonymous, meaning we cannot recognize personal data of individual users. But this data is stored and processed by Facebook about which we inform you according to our knowledge. Facebook can connect this data with your Facebook account and use it for their own marketing purposes in accordance with their privacy data guidelines https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/. You have the possibility to prohibit Facebook or their partners of displaying ads.     8. Advertising analysis via ZANOX

      iKiosk has also embedded the performance advertising network of ZANOX AG, Stralauer Allee 2, 10245 Berlin, Germany. Within the framework of its tracking services, ZANOX, in order to document transactions (e.g. of leads and sales), stores cookies on those user's devices which visit or use the website or other online services of its customers (e.g. register for a newsletter or place an order in an online shop). These cookies merely serve to correctly attribute the success of an advertising measure and the corresponding billing within the framework of its advertising network. For this purpose, ZANOX does not collect, process or use personal data. Only the information on the time when the user clicked on a specific advertisement from a device is placed in a cookie. In the ZANOX Tracking Cookies, an individualised sequence of numbers is stored which cannot be attributed to a specific user, and which documents the partner programme of an advertiser, the publisher (i.e. the person in whose internet presence the advertisement was displayed) and the time of the user's activity (click or view). In this context, ZANOX also collects information on the device from which a transaction is carried out, e.g. the IP address, the operating system and the accessing browser.     9. Geo location for apps

      In the context of some Online Services, we may offer you permanent, location-related information, services and offers. This includes, for instance, ePapers of regional newspapers and magazines, local weather information or information from shops you search for in your vicinity. Location-related data may furthermore be used to display location-related advertising, and for statistical purposes. Before you use location-related content or a location-related service in an app for the first time, your mobile device will usually ask your permission. Once you have given your consent, location data will be collected for a few seconds when you use location-related Online Services on your device. These will be transmitted to us or a service provider in order to obtain the corresponding location-related information (such as local ePapers, restaurants you are looking for, etc.)

    10. Data transmission to third countries

      We ourselves will not transmit your personal data to countries outside the European Economic Area. The embedding of Google Analytics and the transmission of data associated with it complies with a process agreed with the German data protection authorities. Whether third parties with whom you have separate contractual relations (such as Facebook if you have a Facebook account) transmit data to countries outside the European Economic Area, is unknown to us and beyond our sphere of influence.

  9. Your rights / contact data

    You may request at any time that we provide you with information on the data stored about you, that incorrect data be corrected or that your personal data be deleted or blocked. Please note that there are statutory storage obligations, for instance for fee-based contracts such as the purchase of a product/subscription on iKiosk, and that we therefore may not be allowed to completely delete your data in all cases.
